Lash Extensions: Classic, Hybrid, Volume
Eyelash extensions are individual lashes applied one by one (or in small fans) to your natural lashes using a semi-permanent adhesive. The result is fuller, longer lashes that you wake up with every morning, with no mascara, no curler, and no daily application.
The term “permanent eyelash extensions” gets searched often, but it is slightly misleading. Extensions are semi-permanent. They last as long as the natural lash cycle, which means individual lashes shed and are replaced over time, and the extensions go with them. Maintenance appointments (infills) every two to three weeks keep the set looking full.
Classic extensions
One extension lash applied to one natural lash. This is the most natural-looking option. The result is defined, slightly longer lashes that look like you were born with great lashes rather than like you are wearing extensions. Classic suits clients who want subtle enhancement and who have a reasonable number of natural lashes for the extensions to attach to.
Hybrid extensions
A mix of classic one-to-one lashes and small volume fans. Hybrid gives more density than classic without the full drama of volume. It fills in gaps where natural lashes are sparse and creates a textured, slightly fuller look. Hybrid is the most popular choice at Dashe because it suits the widest range of clients.
Volume extensions
Multiple ultra-fine extension lashes (usually two to six) are hand-fanned and applied to a single natural lash. The result is significantly fuller and more dramatic. Volume suits clients who want noticeable, glamorous lashes, or who have sparse natural lashes that need the extra density to look full.
The appointment
A full set takes 90 minutes to two and a half hours depending on the style and the number of lashes applied. You lie down with your eyes closed for the duration. Most clients fall asleep. A short consultation at the beginning determines the curl, length, and thickness that will suit your eye shape.
Infill appointments take about an hour and are needed every two to three weeks to replace the extensions that have shed with the natural lash cycle.
Aftercare
Avoid water on the lashes for the first 24 hours. Do not use oil-based makeup removers or cleansers near the eyes. Brush the lashes gently with a clean spoolie daily. Do not rub your eyes. Sleep on your back or side if possible. These habits extend the life of the set and keep the lashes looking neat between infills.
