Curly Hair Care at Dashe Beauty
Curly hair is not difficult hair. It is hair that needs a different approach. Most salons in Kuwait treat every client the same way: wet the hair, cut it straight, blow it out. This works for straight hair. It does not work for curly hair, because curly hair changes shape dramatically when it dries, and a cut made on wet, stretched hair will look completely different once the curls spring back.
How we cut curly hair
At Dashe, curly hair is usually cut dry. This allows the stylist to see the curl pattern as it actually falls and shape each section based on how the curl behaves, not how the hair looks when it is stretched wet. The result is a shape that looks balanced and intentional when the curls are in their natural state.
Products for curly hair
Curly hair needs moisture. The curl pattern makes it harder for the scalp’s natural oils to travel down the hair shaft, so curly hair is almost always drier than straight hair. We use and recommend sulphate-free shampoos, hydrating conditioners, leave-in conditioners, curl creams, and lightweight oils. The right combination depends on your curl type (2A through 4C) and the specific challenges of Kuwait’s climate.
The Kuwait factor
Low humidity for most of the year, hard water, dust storms, and constant air conditioning all dehydrate curly hair. A routine that works in a humid city may not work here. We adjust product recommendations and care routines for the local climate.
What to expect at your appointment
Every curly hair appointment starts with an assessment of your curl type and condition. We wash with a sulphate-free shampoo or co-wash, apply a deep conditioning mask, detangle with a wide-tooth comb while the conditioner is in, cut (usually dry), apply styling products using techniques like praying hands or scrunching, and diffuse on low heat or air dry.
