At Dashe Beauty in Yarmouk, hair extensions are one of our most requested services. Here is what the process actually looks like, start to finish, so you know what you are walking into.
The consultation comes first
No reputable salon should apply extensions without a consultation. At Dashe, the consultation is where we assess your natural hair’s density, texture, and condition. We need to know what we are working with before recommending a method, because the wrong method on the wrong hair type leads to either a poor result or damage.
We also discuss what you want. More length, more volume, or both. How much maintenance you are willing to do. Whether you swim regularly, work out daily, or wear your hair up often. All of these factors affect which extension method is the best fit.
We only use human hair
Every set of extensions at Dashe is 100% Remy human hair. Remy means the cuticles are aligned in the same direction, from root to tip, across every strand. This is what prevents tangling and gives the extensions a natural movement that synthetic hair cannot replicate. The difference is visible within the first week: synthetic extensions start to look plasticky and tangle quickly, while quality human hair behaves like your own.
The application
We offer tape-in, micro-ring, keratin bond, and sew-in methods. The method we recommend depends on your hair type and lifestyle. Tape-ins are fast and flat, suited to fine hair. Micro-rings use no heat or glue and last the longest between appointments. Keratin bonds are the most discreet and give the most styling freedom. Sew-ins distribute weight across braided tracks and suit thicker, denser hair textures.
Application time ranges from one hour for tape-ins to four or five hours for a full set of keratin bonds. We will give you an accurate time estimate during the consultation so you can plan your day.
Aftercare and maintenance
Extensions require maintenance appointments. The timing varies by method: tape-ins every six to eight weeks, micro-rings every three to four months, keratin bonds every four to six months, sew-ins every six to eight weeks. At each maintenance appointment, the extensions are moved up closer to the scalp to account for natural hair growth.
Between appointments, the care routine is straightforward: brush gently with a loop brush, avoid heavy oil-based products near the bonds, and sleep with hair loosely braided or in a silk bonnet to prevent tangling.
