PRP for Hair Loss in Kuwait: Full Guide
If you colour your hair and you have not added a colour-protection serum to your routine, there is a good chance your colour is fading faster than it needs to. Colour-protection serums are one of the most underused products in hair care, partly because most people do not understand what they actually do. They are not conditioners. They are not styling products. They sit in a category of their own.
This is a straightforward explanation of how they work, who benefits most, and what to look for when choosing one. Written by the product team at Dashe Beauty in Yarmouk.
What a colour-protection serum actually does
A colour-protection serum works in two ways. First, it coats the hair shaft with a thin layer that shields the cuticle from environmental aggressors: UV light, hard water minerals, heat from styling tools, and the drying effect of air conditioning. Second, it seals the cuticle so that colour molecules are less likely to escape through gaps in the hair’s surface.
The result is colour that holds its vibrancy longer and hair that looks shinier, because a sealed cuticle reflects light better than a rough one.
Who needs one
Anyone who colours their hair. Full stop. But the benefit is especially noticeable for clients who live in Kuwait, because the environmental factors that strip colour here are more aggressive than average. Hard water, high UV index, constant transitions between heat and heavy air conditioning.
Clients with lighter or fashion colours (blondes, coppers, reds, pastels) will see the biggest difference, because these shades are the first to fade. Darker colours like deep browns and blacks are more resistant to fading but still benefit from the shine and smoothness a serum provides.
When and how to use it
Most colour-protection serums are applied to damp hair after washing, before blow-drying or air-drying. A small amount, usually two to four drops depending on hair length, is distributed through the mid-lengths and ends. Avoid the roots unless you have very dry hair, because serums can make the root area look greasy if over-applied.
Some serums are also designed for use on dry hair as a finishing product to add shine and UV protection before going outside. Check the label. If it says it can be used on wet or dry hair, it works for both.
What to look for
A good colour-protection serum should contain UV filters (check for ingredients like ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate or similar UV absorbers), lightweight oils that do not weigh the hair down (argan, jojoba, or camellia are common), and ideally some form of heat protection if you use styling tools regularly.
Avoid serums that are heavy with silicones and nothing else. Pure silicone serums give instant shine but can build up over time, making the hair feel coated and dull between washes.
What we stock at Dashe
We carry colour-protection serums from Color Wow, Kerasilk, and Redken. Each one suits a slightly different hair type. Color Wow Dream Coat is exceptional for humidity resistance and frizz control. Kerasilk serums are a good match for dry, thick hair that needs weight and moisture. Redken Acidic Perfecting Concentrate works well across most hair types and pairs with the Acidic Bonding Concentrate line.
If you are not sure which one suits your hair, ask us when you are next in the salon, or message us on WhatsApp. We would rather recommend the right product than sell you the wrong one.
