How to Remove Dead Skin from Heels

Cracked heels happen when layers of dead skin accumulate on the heel edge and dry out until they split. In Kuwait, the problem is more common because of open-back shoes in summer and constant movement between cold indoor air and outdoor heat.

The treatment is not complicated, but it requires consistency. One session will not resolve months of buildup.

At-home method

Soak your feet in warm water for 15 minutes. After soaking, use a foot file on the thickened areas. Do not overdo it: if the skin turns pink or you feel sensitivity, stop. Dry the feet and apply a thick moisturiser containing urea (10% to 25%). Urea helps break down dead skin and prevents it from building up again.

Repeat once or twice a week. For deep cracks, apply the cream before bed and wear cotton socks overnight. After two weeks of consistency, you will notice a clear difference.

Avoid metal blade-style removers. They strip skin aggressively and trigger the body to produce thicker skin as a defence response.

Professional treatment

A specialist pedicure addresses cracked heels with professional-grade files that remove thickened skin more precisely. At Dashe, we use graded files and work layer by layer rather than trying to remove everything at once.

For severe cases, we recommend two sessions spaced two weeks apart, with a daily moisturising routine at home between sessions.
